At Private Şahinkaya Educational Institutions, the aim is to educate students who use information technologies in accordance with Turkish National Education requirements, who have developed critical thinking skills, and who are loyal to Atatürk's principles and reforms. While helping our students gain concepts that they will need throughout their lives such as learning how to learn and reach knowledge, thinking skills, research and being able to communicate with their environments; our school also help them make use of technology and create their own projects so that they can express themselves. In our school, effective learning model is implemented and it is our fundamental philosophy that each student can learn the subject with the right method and approach and they can reach their full potential.
English lessons are carried out in 40-minute lessons and for 12 hours a week by our Turkish and foreign English teachers, whereby students learn by experience and fun. Courses such as chess, music, painting, dance, swimming, computer, drama, STEM, guidance, coding and physical education allow children to develop in every aspect and discover their abilities. The individual characteristics of each child are highlighted through activities based on the multiple intelligence theory.
To achieve the educational objective s of Private Şahinkaya Educational Institutions; 1st and 2nd grades continue with the same class teacher, 3rd and 4th grades are taught by branch teachers. At the end of each academic year, the teachers who teach these grades transfer their students to an upper-class teacher with a detailed "development report". Teachers who specialise in the age group they teach keep developing themselves by keeping up with new developments and attending seminars concerning these age groups. Chess, drama, computer, laboratory, guidance and dance lessons are taught in weekly classes in every grade. For social and physical development, swimming lessons are also carried out weekly in 1st and 2nd grades, and in weekly periods in 3rd and 4th grades.
1st grade is taught based on sound-based sentence method. Students learn to combine sounds into syllables, syllables into words, and words into sentences, and they start writing poems and stories starting from the first month. Each written text is displayed in the classroom and the students are allowed to read.
The Social Sciences lessons are thought on a student-centred basis. Students participation skills are improved by subjects that are taught based on themes. While developing these skills, we also aim to help them gain qualities such as self-esteem, self-confidence, love, respect, and righteousness. Students will be given research and project assignments so that they can gain skills such as using information technologies, conducting research, taking responsibility and cooperating. Turkish lessons are conducted through stories and drama so as to make the lessons more interesting. Reading books is supported by storytelling festivals. The aim of the Mathematics lesson is to help students become self-confident and ready to learn and gain advanced thinking skills. Question-answer, discussion, brainstorming, problem-solving, project-based learning methods and techniques are used throughout the lesson. Daily homework is given to our students in order to reinforce the work done in the classroom and instil a sense of discipline and responsibility. It is recommended that students seek the support of their teacher when they struggle to answer a question at home, without the support of the parents.
In the 3rd and 4th grade, with the new regulation pertaining to the primary school curriculum, and the Science lessons are carried out by branch teachers in the laboratory. In accordance with our students' levels, our 1st and 2nd grades are also introduced to the Science lessons by conducting simple weekly experiments in the laboratory accompanied by branch teachers.
The aim is to help students learn English in a natural speaking environment accompanied by Turkish and Foreign English teachers, starting from 1st grade. Therefore, all our English teachers communicate with our students in English only. The textbooks selected for English classes in all grades are compliant with multiple intelligence theory so that each student's capacity can be maximised.
4th Grade is the last year of primary school education, therefore the aim is to bring students to a level of English whereby they can express their feelings and opinions in English.
In our school, language education, which has been standardised according to the Common European Framework (CEF), will provide our students with a lot of convenience in their future lives.
In primary and middle school, students are supported with additional activities and lessons to make up for the information or subjects they lack, before they move on to another subject.
